Advising
MPhil/PhD supervision
I am generally open to inquiries from potential applicants for the MPhil or PhD program at the University of Hong Kong (HKU).
On the right, you will find a list of my main research interests. In earlier stages of my career, I focused on female-authored Japanese literature and manga, but as a queer & feminist studies scholar, I currently engage with broader interdisciplinary research involving problems of the transnational and translation across English-, Japanese-, and Chinese-language contexts. Accordingly, I am open to advising students working on a range of topics.
My basic criteria for applicants is that they must have strong writing skills in English, demonstrate a general grasp of humanities scholarship even if their work is interdisciplinary (incl. ability to perform textual analysis), and be able to come up with a solid research proposal and writing sample.
